A love of growing, a Taoist philosophy, and a deep desire to feed and heal our community — rooted right here in Montana.
We're Dustin and Jamie Swartz, and Swartz's Organics was born from something simple: a deep, abiding love of growing things — and an even deeper desire to share that love with the people around us.
For Dustin, it started with bonsai. There is a philosophy woven into the art of bonsai cultivation — a Taoist understanding that the grower's role is not to force or control, but to observe, guide, and work in harmony with the natural form of the tree. A bonsai is never finished. It is always becoming. That philosophy shapes everything we do here.
We opened Swartz's Organics because we wanted to offer something real to our community. Not just beautiful plants — though we have plenty of those — but genuinely useful ones. Fruit tree bonsai and cuttings you can grow into producing trees. Berry bushes that will feed your family for decades. Everyday garden vegetables at prices that don't require a second mortgage. Medicinal herbs and specialty plants that support health and wellness, offered responsibly and in accordance with all local laws.
Our mission is simple: we want to eat healthy, and we want to help the people around us eat healthy too. We believe that access to fresh, organic, homegrown food shouldn't be a luxury. With our solar-powered greenhouse — one we're building to benefit the entire community — we're working to make that a reality, one plant, one cutting, one neighbor at a time.

Bonsai is more than an art form — it is a practice of presence. The Taoist philosophy at the heart of bonsai teaches us that a tree has its own nature, its own tao, and the grower's highest calling is to understand and honor that nature rather than impose upon it.
This is why we specialize in fruit tree bonsai — a unique intersection of the ancient art of miniaturization and the practical joy of growing food. A lemon tree bonsai that actually produces lemons. A fig bonsai heavy with fruit. A cherry tree in a pot, blooming every spring. These are not just beautiful — they are alive with purpose.
We also offer fruit tree cuttings for those who want to grow full-sized trees from proven, producing stock. Whether you want a bonsai for your windowsill or a full orchard for your backyard, we can help you get there.

My name is Dustin Swartz. I am the author of The Tao of Helping Others, forthcoming in 2026.
When I was a child, I was diagnosed with Oppositional Defiance Disorder. Where most people saw a problem kid, I see now what that diagnosis really meant: I was born unable to accept a lie just because an authority figure told it. I questioned everything — not out of spite, but because something deep inside me refused to comply with systems that didn't make sense. That instinct never left. It sharpened.
I have a love of art, nature, and animals. I study history and philosophy — not the sanitized versions they hand you in school, but the real currents that move beneath the surface of civilizations. I am a practicing Daoist, beginning my journey toward becoming a Daoist priest. The Tao teaches that the sage does not compete — he observes, he flows, he acts at the precise moment when action is required and not a moment before.
The world is changing. We are on the verge of a great revolution in the cycle of time.
As a Daoist, I understand what is happening — the patterns, the cycles, the turning of ages that the ancient sages wrote about thousands of years ago. And as a man with Oppositional Defiance Disorder, I see every move being made. I see the chess pieces shifting on the board. Combined, these two lenses give me clarity about what my purpose is here.
I will help my community in the coming years. I will provide the guidance and wisdom of a sage when asked. I will teach everyone who wants to learn how to maneuver within a system of control that constantly fails you — a system designed to rob you of your spiritual wealth, your financial independence, and your physical health. This is not paranoia. This is pattern recognition. This is history repeating itself, and this time we have the tools to see it clearly.
We have no choice now. Assimilate and conform, or fade away into history as a number lost. Those are the options the system gives you. But there is a third way — the way of the Tao. We support each other. We network. We communicate. We build together a local system designed to withstand the storm and sustain the people around us, in the ways we each know how. That is what Swartz's Organics is. That is what Apex Electrical is. That is what everything I build will be — a node in a network of people who refuse to go quietly.
Everything you know is a lie.
Look inside.
"The Kingdom of God is within you and it is without you. If you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will know that you are the sons of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you are in poverty, and you are poverty."
— The Gospel of Thomas, Saying 3
"The deeper into yourself you go, the bigger it gets."
— Terence McKenna
The kingdom is not in a building. It is not in a government. It is not in any institution that asks for your obedience in exchange for safety. The kingdom is within you — and paradoxically, it is also all around you, in every living thing, in every connection between people who choose to see clearly. Terence McKenna understood this. The mystics of every tradition understood this. The Tao Te Ching says: "The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao." You cannot be handed the truth. You have to go inward to find it. And when you do, you realize it was never hidden — you were just taught to look in the wrong direction.
This is why I grow plants. This is why I wire houses. This is why I write. This is why I built this website. Every single thing I do is in service of one idea: that ordinary people, working together with clear eyes and open hearts, can build something that no system of control can take from them.
If you're reading this, you already feel it. The ground is shifting. The old structures are cracking. What comes next depends entirely on whether we face it alone or face it together.
I choose together.

Question everything. Study history. Recognize the patterns of control that repeat across every civilization — and learn to move outside them.
Grow your own food. Learn a trade. Reduce your dependence on systems designed to keep you dependent. Every skill you gain is sovereignty reclaimed.
No one survives alone. Network with your neighbors. Share knowledge freely. Build local systems of mutual support that can weather any storm.
Observe nature. Work with the current, not against it. The sage acts without forcing, teaches without preaching, and leads by example.
Read the forbidden books. Study the suppressed histories. Seek wisdom from every tradition. The truth is not owned by any one institution.
Oppositional defiance isn't a disorder — it's a gift. When the system demands your silence, your compliance, your soul — the answer is no.
Everything in our greenhouse is grown with intention — for beauty, for nourishment, and to benefit the people around us.
Our specialty. Fruit-bearing bonsai trees — lemon, fig, cherry, and more — plus cuttings from proven producing trees for those who want to grow full-sized.

Tomatoes, carrots, onions, peppers, greens, and more — garden staples at community prices. We believe everyone deserves fresh vegetables.

Hand-crafted sealed terrariums — self-sustaining ecosystems that water themselves. Living art for your home, and a beautiful introduction to the Tao of growing.

Come see the greenhouse, meet the plants, and take something home. The door is always open.
Every donation supports our solar-powered greenhouse, organic growing programs, and education that benefits the whole community. Together, we're building something that lasts.
